Welcome to my wooden spirograph!
As a kid I enjoyed playing with my trusty spirograph, the time spend making patterns with different coloured pens and endless pieces of paper. Seems like a long time ago now! Times have changes – the set I had came with very small drawing pins with red round caps – very easy to swallow – couldn’t do that now!
The set I’ve made is cut on my trusty Ooznest Workbee CNC from some 3mm ply that I’ve given a couple of coats of cellulose sanding sealer. I’ve found that this tends to reduce the amount of fuzzies after cutting and helps sive a better edge to the detail of the cogs.
The cogs were all cut with a 2.3mm down cut bit with a gentle 0.8mm depth of cut and if I remember a feed rate of 25mm / second.
I was quite pleased with the end results and even managed to have a go at making some shapes.
